About Nico
Welcome...
I am happy to share the treasure of Yoga Nidra with you.
Since my early teens I have been involved in meditation practices and methods to try to "become" something other than I am, driven by an inner sense that "there must be something more than this." TM, Martial Arts, Tibetan Buddhism, Christianity, Kabbalah, Zen and Vipassana have all provided entertainment and distraction for the mind along the way. It is a process that engages many other minds, too, and to be honest... it never really stops.... until the act of searching is let go. For me that was made possible through the teachings of Rupert Spira, Francis Lucille, Eckhardt Tolle, Gary Weber and Jac O'Keefe.
We could say that we are all part of an evolutionary process that results in an expansion of consciousness. It is true to state that learning never stops, and with regard to our personal education and social development, that is certainly important. However, in relation to our spiritual lives, what we are actually searching for is something rather vague and nebulous that cannot be defined... and therefore can never be found through a search exterior to the self. It is only when we realise that we are already whole, and that our inward/outward view is an illusion, that we can begin to let go of the search and rest in Being.
For me, Yoga Nidra was an accidental discovery that came about through the need to manage the pain of sitting in meditation for long periods of time. I realised that deeper states were accessible when meditation was practiced in savasana pose, and through further investigations, became aware that there was a rich tradition of yoga nidra practice reaching back many hundreds of years in various yogic schools.
Over time, we can become skillful at straddling the veil between different states of consciousness without falling into the grip of sleep, and if we are curious, we can discover for ourselves a depth of experience not normally accessible in our "waking" state.
It is possible to set off on this journey by yourself, as I did, however, the voice of the guide helps us to keep the sense of hearing active, anchoring us in the waking state to retain awareness.... and thus we steal from the realm of Morpheus his treasures.
Join me :)
